We chose this amazing breed because of their heartiness (yes, hardiness!), intelligence, and their triple purpose attributes. Icelandics provide excellent gourmet, fine textured and mild flavored meat, soft lustrous fiber, and delicious milk. They also have a wide array of color variations and patterns which makes them a delight to watch out in the pastures!
Icelandics do not require any grain to grow well and maintain their health on good management practices including proper pasture rotation, high quality hay, proper minerals and fresh clean water. Below is a link to an article sharing the history and the standards of the breed.
